There's something about a new year, not unlike a blank page or empty notebook, that brings a sense of newness and refreshment, as well as an ambition, an aspiration, to fill that empty space with our visions, dreams and experiences. For 2012, I'm aspiring to write and photog more. This blog started off as clouds of words, describing thoughts and depicting daily occurrences, but those words were slowly replaced by pictures that did their talking for them. Regardless of how many words a picture is supposed to be worth (a thousand, is it?), text is its own form of expression and means of storytelling, and one that can be a strong compliment to photos. For my photography itself, I aspire to make it a more routine function; to make my camera both my third arm as well as my third eye. As opposed to waiting for photo opportunities, I hope to create them (and many of them) for myself.
So, hopefully what this all boils down to is more blog posts for you and for me :)
The photos from this post were from about a week ago, when a handful of us met at Devil's Punchbowl for hiking and photos. There were 10 people, 25 film cameras and 2 Digital SLRs. A lot of us work (or in my case, go to school) and though we try to make opportunities to shoot together, we usually do so in smaller groups of about 3-5. So it was nice this time around shooting with a larger crowd of friends, especially those who currently live outside of California. These friends are constantly my support and my inspiration, so I've linked their pages down below. If you have any interest in photography whatsoever, check out their pages. You won't be disappointed :)
So! Without further ado, the rolls. Enjoy!
Cameras: Nikon F5, Nikon Fe2, Minolta Freedom Escort
